Places to Visit: Castle Keep and Blackgate, Newcastle, Tyne and Wear

The Castle Keep in Newcastle is what remains of the castle that once stood in Newcastle. The Keep is actually a square stone tower and gatehouse that has been heavily fortified in the past to protect the city from siege and invaders.

The overall dimensions of this old and historical protector of Newcastle are 81 feet in height and 62 feet by 56 feet in width and length.

The Angel of the North – Gateshead – Tyne and Wear

I love this video by Shineyrow at Youtube.

I took a similar one myself a few weeks back when my boyfriend and I travelled up to Newcastle, for the first time in years, to pay our respects to Sir Bobby Robson.

I lived in Newcastle for a number of years and have never lost the goosebumps of excitement and pure pleasure I feel when approaching the final leg of the journey to the city.

Of the many places I have lived in: Manchester, Liverpool, London, Northampton, Lancaster and Reading, and the many more that I have visited, there is not a place on earth that compares to Newcastle.

So sit back and enjoy the approach to the most friendly and brilliant city in England….
