The NewcastleGateshead Juice Festival takes place all over Newcastle, Gateshead and the surrounding area from Thursday 22nd October to Sunday 8th November 2009.

The Juice Festival is about celebrating the creativity of children and young people aged 0 – 18, presenting a fun-packed, two-week programme of activities and events for children and their families to do and see.
 
A complete and thorough programme covers a wide range of choices for all ages and age groups, and here we present our selection for each spread of ages.

Creature Features

In the Natural Northumbria Gallery you will find out all about the local environment, then be invited to create your fantasy animal that could live there.

5 – 7 years:


Happy Halloween Pumpkin Carving and Parade
29th October – 31st October 2009
11.00am – 4.00pm (Saturday until 3.00pm)
ADMISSION FREE – Fancy Dress encouraged!

Suitable for children over 2 and their families, it’s that time of the year to get spo-o-o-oky with pumpkins!
Help to carve up 1000 pumpkins over three days at the BALTIC, dress up in your best scary costume and get creative.
happy-halloween-at-balticEverybody welcome, including weird witches, spooky spiders and gruesome ghouls!
Feel free to bring your own pumpkin, as there are a limited number on site
Afterwards show off your creations and fabulous fancy dress in a Halloween Parade across the Gateshead Millennium Bridge and Baltic Square.

There is also a half-term Spooky Storytelling and Building Tour at the BALTIC from Saturday 24th October to Sunday 1st November.

Urban Playground and Gravity Style Residency – Workshops
28th October – 31st October 2009
9.00am – 5.00pm
Children’s tickets £5
 
Open to anyone aged 12 – 18yrs accompanied by an adult (who is up for a challenge!)

Urban Playground and Gravity Style combine Parkour (free-running) with contemporary and street-dance styles.
In this residency created for the Juice Festival, there are opportunities to take part in workshops, performances and discussion groups.

urban-playgroundThere are two fantastic opportunities for young people and their families to learn and perform alongside Urban Playground and Gravity Style, creating ’micro-choreographies’ in and around The Sage Gateshead.

To take part you must be able to attend both the workshop date and the two performances on Friday 30th and Saturday 31st October.

Xperience 09
24th October – 25th October 2009

xperience-09A weekend of extreme sports action at the coast, Xperience’09 will feature BMX, in-line skating, surfing and snow sports – perfect for those who like an adrenaline rush.
Xperience’09 at Tynemouth will play host to thousands of extreme sport enthusiasts from across Europe. Other highlights include a live music stage, urban art, contemporary dance and more.
Also, surfers from around the world will be competing in the Quiksilver and Roxy North East Surf Open which is part of the UK Triple Crown of Surfing.

AfroReggae Family Day
24th October 2009
10.00am – 2.00pm
Tickets £5 each

afro-reggae-family-daySuitable for everyone 10 years and older, accompanied by an adult who likes noise and fun!

Start your half-term holiday with a bang! Bring along an empty tin can and work with the AfroReggae team to make a custom-built drum, learn infectious rhythms from Brazil and then take to the streets of Newcastle for an open air celebration.
