Newcastle Racecourse, Gosforth Park
Newcastle Racecourse is set in the 812 acre Gosforth Park Estate, just three miles north of Newcastle city centre.
Being a part of Northern Racing, the Newcastle Racecourse has become part of the largest private owned group of racecourses in the country; the racecourse hosts thirty meetings annually as well as providing a range of business events, private parties and special occasions.

The most famous and biggest event that the Racecourse arranges is the Northumberland Plate Festival which was first established in 1833 as Pitmen’s Derby: the Northumberland Plate is a three-day long, two-mile race held annually in June; it is believed to be one of the most remarkable and one of the most competitive handicaps of the season.
Other notable events include Beeswing Ladies Day, the Fighting Fifth Hurdle, Blaydon Races, Tote Eider and Christmas Hurdle Raceday.
Newcastle Racecourse provides lots of excellent facilities such as free parking spaces, family entertainment, restaurants and bars, along with facilities for the disabled. Every floor is made to be easily accessible from all the amenities.
There are plans in progress to build a hotel, as well as number of golfing and caravanning facilities on the place adjacent to the Racecourse.
Over the years, the Newcastle Racecourse has changed its ownership many times, becoming a possession of companies such as Newcastle Breweries, Bellway Homes also private shareholders, while in 1994 was purchased by Sir Stanley Clarke’s Northern Racing.
