Webdurance is offering an online lifeline for local charities. The first North East fundraising 24 hour webathon: a free event being held at the Newcastle University Inex building this July.
Charities in the region are being given the opportunity to boost their profile and fundraising potential thanks to Webdurance, a webathon event being hosted by online technology company, 1DayLater.com, in collaboration with Sunderland Software City and Bond Solutions.
The free event will see Webdurance tech experts compete to create the most successful website on behalf of their allocated charity in just 24 hours whilst promoting the business potential and technical talent the North East really has.
Esther Laverick, Event Manager for Webdurance, said: “A good website can make all the difference to a charity’s brand and fundraising potential, however, many local charities cannot afford to develop these themselves. Webdurance hopes to provide a real boost to those involved in terms of exposure and future prosperity.”
The short list of charities selected to benefit from Webdurance has been announced.
The charities who will be benefitting from the wealth of flair and talent being readily volunteered at Webdurance are:
Azure Charitable Enterprises
Tynemouth Blind Welfare Society
Key Enterprises
The Children’s Foundation Whoops Child Safety Project
Children North East
Meadow Well Connected
Our winning charities span the North East and represent a wide range of current concerns and worthy causes within the North East community such as child safety, disability support services, mental health issues to support and training opportunities for the disadvantaged and impoverished.
Believing in the importance of a strong marketing and online presence for any organisation, however large or small, Webdurance hopes to provide a real boost to all organisations attending the 24 hour webathon in terms of exposure and future prosperity with this project.
Paul King, Webdurance initiator and co-director of www.1daylater.com said: “Our hope is that Webdurance will become an annual occurrence in the North East, to support regional charities from Northumberland to Tees Valley. We’re feeling very positive about its future, here in the region.”
One of Webdurance’s supporters are VONNE, Voluntary Organisation’s Network North East, who represent over 600 charities, voluntary organisations, community groups, networks and social enterprises from across the region and ensure that the voluntary and community sector plays a full part in the life of the North East.
Andrew Samuel is the Regional ICT Champion at VONNE and has said: “Webdurance is a not only a fantastic idea in itself but it encapsulates the North East community spirit by showing just how many of our regions talented designers and digital technicians are prepared to give their time freely to help these charities”.
Webdurance takes place on the 15th and 16th of July at Newcastle University Inex building. Newcastle upon Tyne. NE1 7RU 0191 222 3500
