EAT! Festival:
A Roman Banquet @ Great North Museum: Hancock
It’s a well-known fact that Hadrian’s wall would never have been completed without the nutritional help of stottie cakes and brown ale…
As part of this year’s EAT! Festival, Newcastle’s Great North Museum: Hancock will be recreating a lavish Roman banquet to give guests a real flavour of the past.
Feast like a Roman of old – as so many have done before! – against the backdrop of this magnificent museum.
Guests will get the opportunity to taste some authentic Roman recipes recreated for a 2010 audience (with some more modern dishes also part of the mix) and will also hear from an expert on what life was really like in Roman Britain, including an insight into the dishes themselves.
Tickets: £39.95 per person, see website for full details
